Bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy Training Programme — Course Overview About this programme This programme is a capacity-building initiative delivered in Kenya by Nagasaki University in partnership with Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and AA Health Dynamics (AAHD). Its purpose is to build a complete bronchoscopy service team — doctors who can perform bronchoscopy (including EBUS) safely, nurses who can run bronchoscopy nursing care, and biomedical engineers who can maintain and reprocess the equipment — through face-to-face training held twice a year in Nairobi, supported by online pre-course learning. Each round combines lectures, interactive case discussion, hands-on practice on simulators and real equipment, and observation of live cases. Participating doctors are awarded CPD points. The first round (September) covers the fundamentals — indications, safety management, core scope handling, endoscopy nursing and basic maintenance. The second round (December) builds on this with applied content — case-based discussion, management of complications, advanced procedural assistance and equipment troubleshooting.
